10 Tips to Change the World

If you think that something small cannot make a difference, try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room - Anonymous

Change the WorldI‘ve always believed that the purpose of life is to leave the world better than we found it. I’m sure everyone would agree. But how often do we remind ourselves of this wonderful mission? People find themselves engrossed in their daily lives seldom stopping to think of the impact that they can have on the world. So let’s spare a few minutes to pause and reflect on how we change the world, however big or small, and have an impact on the people around us. Let’s move from being insignificant to leading a meaningful life. Imagine how the world will be if each one of us did our part to improve it :)

.

How to Change the World

.

Start from within. You need to master your inner self to have an effect on other people’s lives. Remember that the enlightenment door always opens outward.

Be the change you wish to see in the world - Mahatma Gandhi

.

Inspire. Be an inspirational human being. Spread positive feelings and many would love to be around you. Show them the way to happiness and fulfillment.

Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means - Albert Einstein

.

Do things that most fear doing. Show them that everything is possible. Fear of uncertainty is what keeps most people from an extraordinary life. Trust me, the unknown angel is always better than the known devil.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do - Eleanor Roosevelt

.

Grab responsibility. Start feeling responsible for the way the world is progressing. All great men feel a tremendous urge to make a move. There’s no point in waiting. If something needs to be done, you better go and be done with it.

Thou shalt not be a victim. Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Above all, thou shalt not be a bystander - Holocaust Museum, Washington DC

.

Become an entrepreneur. You know you can do more to the world if you have the power to create, don’t you? Start a business now and offer tools and services that could make life easy for people. It’s a no-brainer that entrepreneurs really shape the world.

The entrepreneur is our visionary, the creator in each of us. We’re born with that quality and it defines our lives as we respond to what we see, hear, feel and experience - Michael Gerber

.

Think big. I’ve learned that you get from life what you really ask for. Don’t ever think you’re too small to have an impact; you could just be right.

As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big - Donald Trump

.

Push for more. A little more than what you can. Seemingly impossible things get done on the extra mile.

What is the distance between someone who achieves their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following? The extra mile - Gary Ryan Blair

.

Evangelize. Spread your message wherever you go. Let people know what you stand for. You become what you always talk about.

First say what you would be; and then do what you have to do - Epitetus

.

Touch more lives. Expand your circle. Don’t limit yourself to country or profession. Think global. Spread positivity around the world.

Like a pebble cast on river, making circles that reach out far beyond it’s center, your kindness can touch more lives than you will ever know - Anonymous

.

Look to contribute. This is the first step towards having an impact on the world we live in. Always look to do something of value. Intentions help form reality. And you change the world only if you have an intention to do so.

Consciously or unconsciously we all strive to make the kind of a world we like - Oliver Wendell Holmes

.

Bottom line

.

It’s pretty easy to forget how much we are capable of changing the course of history. But I believe it is our responsibility to take things forward to bring about the positive changes that we desire. Big or small, we can do something. It doesn’t necessarily have to be charity work; it can be a life-enhancing book, or a futuristic product, or an inspiring movie or anything for that matter. And you know what? We feel like superstars when we do that.

.

Steve Jobs once said, ‘I want to make a dent in the universe’. I want to make one too. Do you?

This was an enjoyable quick read. I just wanted to elaborate on the first point - it’s fundamentally important to not only change from within, but to really embrace and understand the thing we are trying to change (especially if it’s something we think is “bad”).

Only by fully accepting and understanding the truth of a situation are we enabled to take rightful action. If we don’t understand the real reasons behind an action or situation, then we may take the wrong course of action to “change” that thing (even if it is something within us).

How many times have we tried to fix something, only to find out we made it worse because we didn’t know something?

This is especially true of change in our inner world. We must embrace something, even if that something is extremely painful, in order for us to understand it so completely that we innately understand the right action to make a lasting and positive change.
