There’s no such thing as writer’s block. That was invented by people in California who couldn’t write - Terry Pratchet

As the blogosphere grows bigger by the day, a lot of people who never took writing seriously are starting to pour in their ideas on the web. Today, we’ll look at 15 simple tips that will really help you if you are just starting out as a blogger or a freelance writer.

1. Be interactive. Write like you speak. Strike a conversation with the reader.

9. Take your time. Set targets, but never rush. Give yourself time to write something sensible.

    Hi Manu,

Great tips! I like to add be - Be Authentic.

I think great writings are those that touch readers at a personal level. It helps the author to connect with the readers, with his personal views and his true sincerity, fear, wants, opinions, desires… everything.

The best writers are those that make the readers feel like they are having a conversation with the author. It leaves the readers with a feeling like having spoken to another human being, and not just reading facts or words off a page.

    My two cents worth.

Thank you Lawrence. You’re absolutely right. It must be more than just reading something off a page. I’ve seen many bloggers do this. They have an uncanny ability to be really interactive.

I would suggest that a blogger always have an “about” - if a friend links me to you, help me figure out what you’re about, so I can decide if I should ever return to your blog to see another entry.

Great tips Manu, I especially liked writing what you believe in and cutting the crap. Sometimes it’s hardest to “kill our darlings” but the writing is much better because of it. I think it takes more wisdom to know what to take away than it does to know what to add. Thanks again!
